Learning by Experience through Advanced Research in Nanotechnology

The LEARN program provides students with hands-on training and practical experience in advanced silicon wafer fabrication, which prepares them for careers in the semiconductor industry.

NY CREATES offers multi-modal experiential learning internships at the Albany Nanotech Complex in Albany, NY.
 

Structure

Summer: 8-week full-time residential internships.

Academic Year:  8 – 12 week internships offered throughout the year.

Cleanroom Operators
Manage wafer distribution, certify process qualifications, and collaborate with engineering teams.

Equipment Technicians
Support tool operations, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment.

Facilities/Fab Operations Technicians:
Ensure utility and systems support across the facility.

Process Engineers:
Support process engineering teams.

 

Mentorship & support

Peer Mentors
Each intern receives guidance from a primary peer mentor.

Senior Mentors
Secondary mentorship from industry professionals. 

Flash Mentoring:
Industry-specific sessions to help interns make connections and build networks.

shift structure

NY CREATES operates on a 24/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts. Interns are typically assigned to day shifts, with specific schedules for full-time and part-time positions.
