NY CREATES President Dave Anderson’s Statement Marking the Second Anniversary of the U.S. CHIPS & Science Act

“As we mark two years since Sen. Schumer’s U.S. CHIPS & Science Act was signed into law by the Biden-Harris administration, NY CREATES is excited about the bright future this game-changing legislation will make possible for New York State and the nation. To date we have seen great progress, with $40 million announced to establish the Department of Defense Microelectronics Commons NORDTECH hub, led by NY CREATES, Cornell University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University at Albany, and IBM. CHIPS Act awards to Micron and GlobalFoundries are further enabling essential chip manufacturing within New York’s fast-growing ecosystem and beyond. Combined with our Albany NanoTech Complex 300mm R&D and prototyping capacity and the new $10 billion High NA EUV Lithography Center announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul, NY CREATES stands ready with our wide-ranging partners to work toward this critical initiative’s success.”
