Experiential Learning
Educational Alliance for Semiconductor Experiential Learning (EASEL)
Faculty Technical Development Workshops
The EASEL Faculty Technical Development Workshops are designed to connect community college faculty with engineers and technical staff from NY CREATES and its industry partners.
The goal is to enhance faculty knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and ensure they are prepared to teach the technical skills needed for the modern semiconductor workforce. These workshops will provide an immersive, hands-on experience in state-of-the-art Integrated Circuit (IC) fabrication facilities.
Program dates & Location
- January 12 – 14, 2025
- NY CREATES, Albany Nanotech Complex
State-of-the-art facilities with hands-on access to the latest in semiconductor technology.
Workshop Goals
- Build Technical Familiarity: Develop faculty understanding of IC fabrication operations, equipment, and support systems.
- Expand Knowledge of Skills Required: Familiarize faculty with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary for techs and engineers in IC fabs.
- Career Awareness: Increase awareness of semiconductor technician and engineering careers and the educational pathways leading to them.
Workshop Structure
These workshops will use an in-person format to give participants firsthand exposure to the fab and sub-fab environments. Through augmented reality (AR) modules, faculty will engage in virtual tool operations and technical tasks while also participating in live demonstrations.
Why attend?
- Hands-On Experience: Direct access to one of the leading semiconductor fabs in the world.
- Industry Collaboration: Engage with engineers from NY CREATES and its industry partners.
- Career Development: Understand the skills required for the semiconductor workforce and improve your own technical knowledge.
