Abstract: Wolfspeed continues to lead the industry transition from silicon to silicon carbide across both materials and devices as the world’s only pure-play, vertically integrated silicon carbide company. This talk will explore some of the disruptive technological innovations that silicon carbide has enabled and what might be possible in the race to find cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable energy on a global scale. Silicon carbide poses some unique challenges over silicon for manufacturability at scale, both in substrate generation and device fabrication. These will be discussed to provide deeper insight into silicon carbide manufacturing with the goal of accelerating growth and interest in high technology jobs.
Biography: Over 25 years ago, Janet stepped foot in a semiconductor fab facility at IBM for an internship and never looked back. She is now responsible for Global Epi Operations at Wolfspeed. Her team delivers SiC and nitride epitaxy products with the highest performance and quality for both internal and external consumption. They drive manufacturability and continuous improvement through safety, operational excellence, equipment and process engineering. Janet also has extensive experience in the Wafer Fab, leading teams focused on yield and new technology/product introduction. Her passion is building technical and integration expertise within a diverse and multi-disciplinary team. Janet has over 16 years of experience working in Silicon Carbide. She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and is an avid music enthusiast.
